IMS CEO Daren Jay was privileged to present on Investigative Interviewing last week as part of the Charles Sturt University international faculty delivering the current Mid Career Training Programme (MCTP) to the Indian Police Service National Police Academy, Hyderabad, India.

The MCTP is a prestigious leadership development programme designed to enhance the professional practice of the senior leadership of the Indian Police Service through the delivery of an innovative and engaging learning experience.

At IMS we are delighted to be able to deliver our online training using the most technologically advanced methods to bridge the digital divide and enhance the learning experience of our students, wherever they may be around the world.

Daren’s sessions presented the programme’s investigative interviewing component through a multi-jurisdictional lens, and explored the concept of false confessions and miscarriages of justice, before examining contemporary best practice which continues to be shaped by international research.

In this case, Daren was able to use our IMS web-based learning and training technologies to stream case studies, engage with students via multi-channel sources and use our proprietary TILES System® software to demonstrate a major crime interview plan being put together in real-time.  Post-delivery, Daren commented, “It was an excellent series of sessions. With the constant student interaction and by making dynamic use of multi-media, it’s still possible to train online and deliver an immersive learning and development experience for dispersed audiences”.

The delivery of online investigations and investigative interviewing training can be a daunting task for even the most experienced law enforcement trainers.  Daren’s parting advice for any online trainer – “Keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. When you think you’re prepared ahead of an online session, check your slides, multi-media, and tech integrations again and leave absolutely nothing to chance!
