IMS is delighted to be supporting an international FBI-funded research study on interpreting in witness interviews. The study is being conducted by researchers from the University of Newcastle, UNSW, Griffith University and SyncScience. The study will train interviewers and interpreters on working together using contemporary best practice interviewing methods and test an intervention to acquaint interpreters with interviewing methods.
Before conducting an investigative interview via Zoom, all interviewers will receive 2 hours of online training produced by IMS and @UNSW. Upon conclusion of the interview and completion of an online questionnaire, participants will receive a certificate of course completion evidencing 3 hours of professional development.
The study is open to Police officers, security professionals, investigators, lawyers, intelligence professionals and workplace investigators. If you gather evidence from people using investigative interviews, you can participate. Full details of the study can be found here.
To participate in the study, please email the research team via ‘[email protected]‘ with the subject heading ‘Interviewer Study’. The research team would welcome any support you can provide in participating in, and sharing this research opportunity.
